THE CURRENCY MARKETS AND STONE WORKTOPS – TIME TO ORDER YOUR CAMBRIA!

As you are aware, the pound has slipped significantly against other currencies during the second half of 2016 and into 2017. We had all hoped that the initial plunge after the referendum would lead back to a recovery over the following weeks, but this has not been the case on a big enough scale. British products and services which involve raw materials or processed goods from overseas have seen some significant price rises.

Amazing Cambria Quartz – get it at the old price while you can!

At the time of updating (Feb 2017) we have just heard through from our wholesale importers of the American quartz Cambria that another major price increase is in the offing, with their lines going up by between 5 and 10%. This will occur by April, so if you are looking at these products, March is a good time to buy. My gut feeling is that the same will occur in the following months with other products.

Do bear in mind that a 10% price rise on materials doesn’t translate to a 10% rise on your installation cost; we are trying to keep our manufacturing and fitting charges down to help customers absorb the increases that come in. In general, the material makes up about half of the total cost of an installation. All the same, it is worth watching how prices are moving and taking advantage of the old price while you can
