Black Galaxy Granite Worktops

With their leafy avenues and quality older homes, the Purley Oaks and Sanderstead areas of the CR2 postcode in South Croydon are regular stopping places for our vans as residents invest in high-value granite and quartz worktops during kitchen refurbishments. Our customer Mr Denneny chose Shaker-style units in Ivory from his kitchen company. Doors have classic D-shape handles in a brushed yellow gold.

With a glossy black Rangemaster Classic cooker and Fridge-Freezer, black and chrome/steel also form a significant element in the design. Finally, a soft green was chosen for the walls.

It was a privilege to install granite worktops for Mr Denneny who had had a somewhat stressful time with other aspects of the works on his home. As worktop installation is one of the last jobs to be done in a kitchen, it is always good when we can leave a satisfied customer. He wrote to Naomi, head of our sales team:

"Dear Naomi, After a difficult time having my kitchen fitted, it was a real pleasure to have your men installing my granite this morning. The overall improvement was immediate & the effect stunning. The complete experience, from choosing the granite and visiting your workshop to the final fitting has been both easy and pleasurable. Thank you."

Holding all of this together, with warm, golden metallic flecks in a rich black background, Black Galaxy Granite was the perfect choice for the worktops.

It is hard to beat the look of a polished black worktop, particularly alongside a fine range cooker such as the Rangemaster Classic. The very square undermounted sinks are highly contemporary. The smaller, half-bowl sink has a waste-disposal unit attached.
Alongside the swan-neck monobloc hot and cold tap, a water filter, drinking water tap was fitted. We manufacture parallel drainer grooves for most of our undermount sink installations. Some customers prefer splayed grooves for aesthetic reasons: the cost is a little higher as each groove has to be machined separately, but the result is striking.
It is always worth considering granite on the windowsill to match the worktops, and if so, to make the upstand meet the sill. This is attractive and very practical when it comes to wiping down the surfaces. Where the sill is more than 100mm (standard upstand height) above the worktops, there are two options: to go for a bespoke upstand height all the way round the kitchen, or to have an extra height upstand only under the sill, as here.
