Bespoke Granite Worktops

Our Bespoke service is for customers who either A) want a granite worktop colour that we do not import or B) who need dimensions for the granite worktops outside of the sizes that we ordinarily stock.

A) If colour is the issue and you have seen the granite worktop colour that you want elsewhere and know the name then we can source the granite through one of our trusted suppliers in the UK. We will also obtain samples of the granite for you to check that it is similar enough to what you have seen as every batch will be different.

If however you want something different, but aren't quite sure what, then we can arrange for you to visit one of our trusted suppliers in the UK to view the large slabs at your leisure.

B) If the dimensions for your kitchen design mean that there will need to be more joins in your granite worktops using our standard blanks then it may be that buying in large slabs may be the answer for you. Particularly if there are large or unusual size island worktops then this may be the solution.

Cutting from large slabs also enables us to be able to do some L-shape worktops etc. (N.B. There will always be limitations due to the health and safety implications of the weight involved. There also may be limitations governed by the access into the property and the actual kitchen. [Granite is quite fragile whilst being handled especially with appliance cut outs etc]). We will still obtain samples for you to approve because the granite will be coming from a different quarry to our direct import granite.

Buying in large slabs does not normally affect our timescales much providing the granite is in stock at our supplier. The time between template and fit may take a bit longer due to delivery and handling of the slabs (these slabs can be six metres square!) and the extra work involved. Unlike our pre-cut imported blanks these slabs need polishing on all sides. If you have a large kitchen or there are a lot of curves to make then this can also add to the time between template and fit. Even so we would still expect to turn around the worktops ready for installation within a few days unlike a lot of our competitors who take more than 2 weeks!

Obviously buying in large slabs especially for a particular job is not without the extra cost implications. We have to look at each job individually because there are so many variables:

  • Price and availability of granite worktop colour chosen.
  • Amount of large granite slabs required.
  • Two different thickness of granite required ie. to make splash-backs/up-stands.
  • Amount of polishing required for the worktops.
  • Is extra manpower needed to handle the granite.
