AG Carrara Quartz Worktops: the Kitchen and Details
The customer recycled a couple of elements from their old kitchen – the Rangemaster Classic Deluxe 90 still looks after the cooking, and the stainless steel fridge-freezer provides fresh and frozen storage. The latter is a Samsung, I think, but I don’t have the details.
The sink is the Blanco Villae one-and-a-half bowl ceramic, mounted beneath the worktop. The sink layout is completed with taphole and parallel drainer grooves.
The kitchen units/doors are Tavira by Gaddesby Kitchens. A contemporary Shaker style, Tavira doors are made from Ash with a quite distinct wood grain persisting beneath the paintwork – in this case Parisian Blue for the island units and Mussel for the rest of the kitchen.
The Quooker Pro 3 tap in chrome finish is an industry standard in boiling water provision. Quooker claims to be unique in providing genuinely boiling (100°C) water. Their system is safe and efficient – we can recommend and supply Quooker taps.
Steel/chrome cup-handles complement the steel and chrome elsewhere in the kitchen
With the house lights off the kitchen is cool and calm. It becomes homely and warm at the flick of a switch. Another view of the Quooker pro 3 tap and the drainer grooves in the AG Carrara quartz worktop.
At approximately 1840 by 1350mm, the island is certainly not the largest we have fitted, but is a nice shape and, having no cutout, is a seamless centrepiece for the room.Â
One unusual element in the kitchen is the pantry cupboard, which was created on a bespoke basis for the kitchen. Nothing from the off-the peg Gaddesby Tavira range quite fitted the bill, so Paragon came up with this excellent unit.
AG Carrara Quartz Worktops: the Stone
AG Carrara may be our entry-level marble-look quartz, but it looks a million dollars on the painted ash of the Tavira kitchen. Classy, understated and very, very practical.
Soft-white marble never goes out of fashion! AG Carrara was one of our first “own-branded” quartz lines, and has been the largest, steadiest seller of these over the years. Why do manufacturers create quartz to look like marble? Why not just install marble? See here for the history.
A jumbo AG Carrara slab arriving into our warehouse. We have installed nearly 400 sets of kitchen worktops in this material over recent years. That is 400 sets with virtually no complaints or issues – the only ones I can think of had to do with customers over-using detergent in their keenness to clean thoroughly. A dried-on layer of Fairy Liquid can then take a stain – with plenty of water all the issues just came off. This stuff is good!
