How to find Affordable Granite
Every week day since the Pandemic we have had visitors at the Affordable Granite office and showroom. And every week, if not every day, some people have problems finding us and end up languishing on other farms before extricating themselves and getting to us. And those are the ones we hear about!Â
Our Contact Page has full instructions, of course, with our What3Words reference and tips for using a satnav to find us. And our home page has the map shown here at right. Between these helps, you should have everything you need to locate our granite and quartz worktops showroom.
Our What3Words reference – print.meal.prep – brings you right to the door of our office and showroom. For customers (rather than delivery drivers!) this is where you want to be!
How to find Affordable Granite using your eyes - from the South
If you are driving here and prefer to look where you are going rather than at a SatNav, here are a few images to guide you in. The majority of our customers probably arrive coming North from Charlwood, and these three pics should help you.Â
If you are approaching from Charlwood village just south of us, you need to leave the village and watch out for the end of the 30 limit. The 40 signs are to either side on a wooded bend, with white fences. We are the first farm on the right and you are nearly here…
A hundred yards further on and the bend straightens to give this view of the farm entrance. Turn right before that red brick wall at the farmhouse. If you hit it, the wall win win.Â
This is the sign on that wall at the farm entrance. You can safely ignore the Covid sign for now. It is scheduled to fall off in 2037.
How to find Affordable Granite using your eyes - from the North
If you are arriving through Norwood Hill / Leigh / Betchworth / Brockham to the North of us, then you will be out in the countryside for longer. There is quite a steep hill heading down Norwood Hill Road from the Fox Revived pub at the top before the road flattens out onto the plain that includes Gatwick Airport.Â
The Fox Revived is not only a good landmark, but a good pub. If we have visiting granite worktop customers who are looking for a decent lunch in our area, this is where we point them: great food, well-cared-for beer and a relaxed atmosphere.
Once you are down the steeper part of Norwood Hill Road, it meanders on the flat for about 0.8 of a mile until, after a few cottages on your right and a slight right bend, you will see the John Lory Farm sign half hidden in the hedgerow in your left.Â
The actual entrance to the farm isn’t so obvious coming from the north – once you have this view, prepare to turn left quite sharply, immediately after the farm building just visible on the left here.Â
How to find Affordable Granite once you are on John Lory Farm
All visitors to John Lory Farm arrive by that one main entrance. If you come in any other way you are likely to find no way through, and may well get your vehicle sprayed with cattle poor in the process. So the pics here show what everyone will see.Â
Once on John Lory Farm, you fairly quickly see this view, with the big farmhouse on your left.Â
Driving into the farm, you reach this choice of roads, with Charlwood Automotive – the Volvo maintenance specialists in the middle of options straight on or left. For the Affordable Granite showroom and office you need to go left here.Â
On the side of the Charlwood Volvo garage you can see these signs showing the way – Left – to both our showroom and Nick Geard‘s fine furniture workshop and office.Â
If you get to this view, you have gone straight on/turned right on the farm and are at the back of our warehouse. It is labelled as Affordable Granite, but this is strictly the arrival point for materials. Unless you are a lorry bringing granite or quartz slabs for kitchen worktops, you are in the wrong place!Â
This view, past the Volvo garage towards the stables means you are on the right track. Avoiding the massive manure heap on your left, and the world’s largest collection of Volvo cars on your right, you need to turn right before the stables.Â
Approaching the stables.Â
Sign on the stables, denoting direction to Affordable Granite. Note horse, denoting stables. (NB. Horse not always visible.)Â
The view you get as you turn right at the stables.
Just round the corner from Charlwood Automotive is Race – Road and Competition Engineering – a maintenance garage for sports and classic cars. Watch out for old Mustangs, Ferraris, Lambos and Jags like this superb XK120. Do not drive into them.Â
