Lamar Ceramic Worktops - A Strong Newcomer in the UK Market

Lamar ceramic worktops logo

Lamar is a ceramic worktop and tile company with production units in India. It uses the “sintered particle” technology, somewhat in the same style as Dekton, with both heat AND pressure being applied in slab manufacture. The company makes a great range of natural-look materials, being mainly “printed on” patterns, so not full-bodied. (This makes a difference at edges, where the “background” colour of the ceramic is all that shows.)

Like other ceramic/sintered particle materials, Lamar is extremely hard and resistant to scratching. It has the other typical benefits too, with stain and temperature resistance being exceptional. These are all advantages over quartz or natural stone, although this is a bit comparing Porsches and Ferraris: real granite scores very high in just those areas too.

One drawback with  ceramic materials is that this hardness comes at the cost of brittleness. If hit hard enough, sintered particle materials can fracture, and fracture more drastically than other worktops. Quartz especially, with its small plastic resin content, shows quite remarkable resistance to breakage and major chipping.

We try to keep customers honestly informed of all the pros and cons! There is no one magic bullet which can handle every challenge perfectly: you need to weigh up which benefits are most important for you.

Many people are finding that ceramics are a great option as kitchen worktops, and Lamar from Affordable Granite is a very competitively priced route to installing them in your kitchen!
