IVORY FANTASY – NEW STOCK
With the trend to light-coloured kitchen surfaces still going strong, quartz worktops continue to be very popular. However, we feel we are seeing renewed popularity of light-coloured natural stones; their interesting patterns and every-slab-is-unique charm cannot be substituted by any man-made material.Â
We are pleased to have taken delivery of some particularly nice Ivory Fantasy, with a pinkish tint in the cream, which has been lacking in some recent batches.
We have paid a slightly higher price than usual for this stock, and as a result will be selling it at our Premium Plus price band, at the same level as River White Granite.
In common with other light coloured natural stones, Ivory Fantasy is not a true granite, or even fully igneous. As a relatively coarse-grained metamorphic rock, it is more porous than a dark granite, and, as a light stone, can show stains. As such it needs occasional resealing, perhaps every nine months to a year. It is arguable that the yellow and pinkish tones make the stone more forgiving than, for instance, Colonial or River White.
Ivory Fantasy comes from the same area in India as Kashmir Gold – a stone which we used to stock regularly but which has become harder to obtain at consistent quality. Ivory Fantasy typically has a fairly wild but not overly linear pattern, with pinks, creams, greys, blacks and occasional pinkish garnets. With customers looking for light cream and beige materials which show significant pattern and interest, it isn’t surprising that we sell a lot of this lovely stone.
This is a full slab of our new batch of Ivory Fantasy – batch NI170207. It has more pink tones and a softer pattern than other recent batches – rather more like this stone used to be a few years back. Sold wholesale as Ivory Fantasy Extra, it is a little more expensive and we are selling this in our Premium Plus price band.
This is a full slab of a recent batch – SC161124 – showing the yellower overall tone and stronger and wilder pattern. Which you prefer is purely a matter of personal taste! This stone continues to be available in our Premium price band.
