Strength in depth: Building the best Granite Worktops Team
With the growth and development Affordable Granite has seen over recent years, we have had to strengthen our staff team with new appointments. We have also seen Jude leave us after a good number of years helping us in administration. So, time for a Goodbye and some Hellos…
Goodbye, Jude!
After around 6 years with us, Jude left us in August. She will be working as a technician in Domestic Science in a local secondary school, where her cooking, cleaning and mending skills will be passed on to a whole new generation. We are going to miss her, especially in her role as “the sunshine Rottweiler”, as one granite worktop customer memorably called her. No one has ever phoned to get a balance paid with greater steely charm and more friendly determination! We wish Jude and her family all the best in this new phase of their lives.
Welcome, Carol!
Carol lives locally and joins us after many years in administrative roles – not least 27 years with the Surrey Library Service. Clearly neat and organised, she has got into her job quickly and will be a tremendous asset alongside Tina. She may well be the person answering the phone if you call in, and she will very likely be the last person you speak to when the balance for your granite worktops is collected!
Carol has two children, has lived in Australia, and breeds Shelties as her hobby – or possibly passion! I think that at the last count she had four of these beautiful dogs to take her for walks.
Welcome Antônio!
In the workshop, we welcome Antônio in a general-purpose stonemason’s role. The majority of our workshop and fitting staff have been trained in-house, but this time around growth has made it imperative to take on fully-trained staff. We feel we have hit the jackpot with Antônio: 25 years of stone industry experience, mostly in the UK but also in his native Portugal. Antônio is a family man and a great team player. In his first few weeks he has worked in the factory, gone out on the vans fitting quartz and granite worktops, and lent a valuable hand with templating. That kind of flexibility, the ability to cover jobs right across the range, is a great help.
It has been a while since we had significant changes to the Affordable Granite team. One of the nicest aspects of our growth has been building a team that people do not want to leave. As in any family, we all have our moody moments, but taking all in all, a huge part of the appeal of working for AG is working with such a great bunch of people.
