We are the main provider of granite worktops for the Guildford area. Our MD and owner, Andy Phillips, is a long-time resident of the town, and an active member of the local community. Other staff members live close by. Although a 45 minute drive from our Charlwood Factory, Guildford always feels like the ‘heart of our heartland’. With around 80 000 population, and central to a borough with around 150 000 people, Guildford is a vital market for us. Guildford is a largish town (though smaller than Worthing or Crawley) but it has a cathedral. In some people’s books, that makes it a city! The town’s history is long. It probably began as a stopping place where a gap in the chain of the North Downs meets the River Wey. Here the oldest road in the UK, the Harrow Way, forded the river; Guildford is still a town whose shape and layout are defined by the river and its crossings.
Guildford grew strong with the building of the canals, but has really flourished and grown in stature in the 20th and into the 21st century through the building of Surrey University and Guildford Cathedral.

Guildford is more than the town, of course. The local district forms one of the Boroughs of rural Surrey, and includes a number of larger villages and towns that are significant in their own right. East and West Clandon, East and West Horsley, Normandy, Send and Effingham all lie within the Borough. All of them are areas where we frequently install granite worktops.

We tend to find that Guildford granite worktop customers known what they are looking for and expect to quality stone and great craftsmanship! We have installed a number of spectacular sets of kitchen worktops in stunning homes in this area, and left many customers very happy with their new solid stone, quartz and granite countertops. The trend towards engineered stone (quartz) is strong here as elsewhere, but the area also has a very significant number of people who want the classic, natural beauty of real granite in their kitchen.
