KITCHEN WORKTOPS: AUTUMN SNAPSHOTS AT AFFORDABLE GRANITE

Kitchen Worktops in Autumn: a few snapshots at a our factory

After a bunch of rather heavy blogs, I thought that this week I would just take a photo walk around the farm and the kitchen worktop plant. All around us are the stunning colours of a Surrey autumn, and on days with clear skies it just feels good to be alive.

In the factory and warehouse we been seeing some interesting stones. I was struck by the contrast between the relatively cool greys we seem to be cutting for kitchen worktops, and the warm reds and russets of the natural world outside.

Tan Brown Granite Off-cut in our yard, awaiting New Year Sales

Tan Brown is a very autumnal looking stone, especially in this light! The Christmas rush is over, in terms of sales, which means that we are looking forward to booking into the New Year. We already have a lot of work on, but this is just a reminder that the pre-Christmas embargo on Supply Only work, and on discounts on offcuts, is OFF – the fabulous Affordable Granite bin end sale is on on again! For vanity tops, larder shelves and any other small stone jobs, we have the slabs for you, like the Tan Brown granite seen here.

Winter Logs in for the Farmer’s Woodburner

And if a woodburner, why not a  granite hearth? Best way to protect the floor from, hot embers, a classic granite hearth is affordable when using an AG offcut!

Here is a hearth in Nero Assoluto with small granite plinths, just to raise it a bit off the floor.

Dekton Blaze in our Workshop

The Dekton X-Gloss range is the shiniest stone we sell for kitchen worktops. Incredibly hard, amazingly easy to clean, superbly resistant to scratching, X-Gloss Dekton is also super reflective. Blaze is a light grey stone – but what you can see here is all sky and tree.

There is no single magic bullet for the all the varied challenges of of life as a worktop, of course. What Dekton gains on staining and hardness, it could be said to lose in brittleness. If you are inclined to drop casseroles or bottles of champagne onto your kitchen worktops, Dekton may not be for you. But if ultimate cleanability is your thing, then it is unbeatable! For more about Dekton, see here.

Compac Ceniza on the Saw

Light coloured greys are in, but there are oddly few to choose from. At the opposite end of the price spectrum from Dekton is Compac’s very economical Ceniza. We have installed many of Ceniza kitchen worktops over the years, and have a lot of confidence in this steady-selling product. For more about the Compac range, see here.

Sensa Colonial White on the Saw

We seem to have been cutting Sensa Colonial White all year. A pre-sealed, guaranteed natural stone is a great idea; selling it as stock, and in an affordable price band seems even better. If you love real stone worktops, are looking for a cool grey, and want to be relatively relaxed about staining issues, Sensa Colonial White is for you. See the whole Sensa range on Cosentiono’s site, here.
