NAOMI & TINA TAKE THE PLUNGE

Our colleagues Naomi and Tina are taking part in the St Catherine’s Hospice Skydive on 20th Aug 2016.

St Catherine’s Hospice provides end of life care and support to terminally ill people & their loved ones from Crawley, Horsham, Mid-Sussex & East Surrey. This means not only support at the hospice proper with all its care facilities, but home visits and specialist care for the large number of people who choose and are able to pass their final days in their own home.

At present the NHS funds about 30% of the £8m per year that St Catherine’s needs to function. That leaves around £15 000 per day that comes in from donations, legacies and other forms of fund raising.

Tina has been a regular voluntary visitor over the years at the hospice, providing company and conversation for patients. She writes about her connection to the St Catherine’s: Working as a volunteer I’ve seen the wonderful care this charity gives to so many terminally ill patients, not only the end of life care but to all the family and friends affected too. Sadly my mum didn’t make it to St Catherine’s but she was very well looked after for her lymphoedema. This jump is also in memory of a good friend, Mike who sadly passed away this year and for my friend, Jamie’s granddad. Tina is not a stranger to adventurous fund-raising either, having already abseiled down the Sandman Hotel in Crawley and done several midnight walks in aid of St Catherine’s. She works at Affordable Granite as our main administrator, and is often the voice on the phone for customers’ first enquiries.

Naomi has had cause to visit the hospice many timskydivees over the years, in connection with specific people who St Catherine’s has been able to help. She has admired the dedication, high standards and skill of the staff, and wants to support in any way she can.

She is our Sales Manager, having been a key member of the Affordable Granite team from the very start of the company.

Naomi and Tina will be heading down to Wiltshire on 20th August in order to jump out of a plane, fall through the air, dangle from a parachute, and land, we hope comfortably, on Salisbury Plain. If you would like to support St Catherine’s by sponsoring the ladies for their jump, please see their Just Giving pages.
