The last few years have seen the development of marble-look quartz worktops with “big veins.” We have written about this since they first appeared, starting with Silestone’s breakthrough products. And if one type of big-veined marble-look quartz has become dominant, it is Calacatta Gold – based on a real and highly prized marble, with a white background, grey veins and amazing gold veins in there too.

Calacatta Gold is a big-vein quartz, which means that it does raise vein-matching issues, as we dealt with in our blog some time ago. It is probably best used in a kitchen where an island or peninsula gives that big pattern a chance to really sing!
