Merry Christmas, Everybody!
It’s time for stockings, tinsel, sherry, turkey, cheese and chocolate – and the Affordable Granite Christmas Quiz and Crossword!
The Affordable Granite Christmas Quiz 2021 - Those Marmite-Factor Christmas Songs
Every year we hear the same music at Christmas –Â relatively few new songs break through to join the old chestnuts in the Christmas play list. We have heard many of the regulars literally hundreds of times. This may cause intense suffering or intense pleasure, and we all have favourites and most-detested. I would gladly never hear Wham and Band Aid again.
But with all that exposure to them, do we know them? This year’s quiz is super simple: match the bits of lyrics to the singer. It’s harder than you think!
It’s up to you if you Google them – I would be interested if anyone can get the lot without any cheating!
1 I won’t even stay awake to hear those magic reindeer click
2 if you kissed me now I know you’d fool me again
3Â the wind goes right through you, it’s no place for the old
4 records playing all the old songs, we love to hear
5Â nothing ever grows, no rain nor rivers flow
6 it’s the sturdy kind that doesn’t mind the snow
7 so hop aboard the turntable
8 if you jump into your bed quickly cover up your head
9 later we’ll have some pumpkin pie
10 top to toe in tailbacks
11 Does your grandma always tell you that the old songs are the best?
12 for black and for white for yellow and red
13 with every Christmas card I write
14 The word is out about the town to lift a glass
15 sometimes in a dream you appear outside, under the purple sky
The Affordable Granite Christmas Crossword
Here it is – alongside the Christmas Quiz, the Ag Christmas Crossword!
No specific prize offered this year, but we will see what we can do for the first correct solution emailed to Andrew.King@AffordableGranite.Co.UK People who have helped me put it together are disqualified, I’m afraid.
It is a bit Chistmassy, a bit kitchen-industry biassed, with one clue only this year coming straight off our recent blogs. I’m only sorry that the site search function is currently not working – but you can google creatively! Once you twig that I am over-fond of anagrams, you should be able to do the whole thing in five minutes! 😉
The grid is an unusual one – not my usual style of symmetry. I hope you enjoy it.
