The day came at last – we have completely revolutionised our granite and quartz worktops prices!

Since the dawn of time… well, the start of Affordable Granite, anyway… we have sold granite worktops in a number of price bands. When quartz came into the market, we carried on with the same structure. As of April 2025, that has all changed.

So it’s goodbye to STANDARD, SUPERIOR, PREMIUM, PREMIUM PLUS and PREMIUM PLUS EXTRA. For years we have had to answer the same questions about these, time and time again.

Are they different qualities? What makes the difference in price? and so on.

Those questions and others were dealt with face to face in the worktop showroom, on the phone and in our FAQs page. And issues of pricing haven’t gone away, of course. materials for kitchen worktops are still at different price points, and the old reasons for granite, and for quartz) are still relevant. But that structure of Standard through to Premium ++ was unhelpful, and getting ever more so, and I for one am glad to see the back of it.

You will still see some references to the old pricing names on the site – it is very hard to eradicate them all – but please go to our stock granite worktop, quartz worktop and ceramic worktop pages for the current price bands.

The new structure is utterly predictable and boring, but it won’t give that false impression of quality differences. We have gone for simple numbers – Price Bands 1 – 5. Boring, maybe, but effective!

Two other changes have come along with those numbered price bands for kitchen worktops:

• For the first time we are stocking materials for ceramic worktops. This change has been a while coming, but we waited until the manufacturers were producing worktop stones which were sufficiently consistent, strong and affordable to make stocking ceramic worktops worthwhile.
• Our pricing page used to be two pages – for granite worktops and quartz worktops separately. This was over-complicated and a real pain to update whenever stock materials or prices changed – granite and quartz worktop prices are now together under one new pricing page where you can get a rough idea of what your kitchen worktops will cost.
