Quartz Worktops Fitted Guildford, Surrey in Blanco Massa

Faced with the delightful challenge of making space for their own children and frequent visits from their large and close-knit wider family, Mr and Mrs G have recently extended their lovely older home to create a new kitchen/family room. Bi-fold doors across the long side of the massive room give stunning views across the Wey Valley, and make the whole space bright and airy.

The kitchen is a traditional one – Clifton in painted Mussel from County Kitchens – and the couple chose our own Blanco Massa Quartz for the worktops. This marble-look-alike engineered stone makes for a far more durable surface than any natural marble.

Price Guideline: At current pricing, this worktop layout would be around £4,300 in Blanco Massa, with prices in stock materials
dropping to around £3,000 in, for example, Black Pearl.

THE FINER DETAILS

About Blanco Massa Quartz

The delicate veining in the quartz is a good approximation to the look of real marble, and at a price point far more favourable than marble copies from some of the big brands.

Complements and Contrasts

At the heart of the kitchen, the Rangemaster cooker in Cranberry provides a splash of warmth and colour.  The tiles behind the range are Delft by Fired Earth, the floor tiles are Mandarin Stone’s Maranello Grey, and the painted walls are in Dulux Soft Fauna 4 and 5.

Perrin and Rowe Mixer Tap

The classic “Ionian” cross-head bridge mixer tap in chrome finish by Perrin and Rowe looks the part: traditional, business-like and bright in this well-lit kitchen.

Curved End Upstands

The bespoke upstands are at 170mm height right round the room, which is the height of the windowsill, thus avoiding having a step in the upstand beneath the window. Somehow, in the light tones of the marble-look this just looks “right” in a traditional kitchen, as does the curved detail at each upstand end.

Thought-out details

The Brassware Company makes pewter effect knobs (both round and oval) in satin black. Again, as with all the details in this kitchen, they complement cabinets, worktop and décor perfectly.

Peninsular Maximises Storage

Apart from the Bosch dishwasher and the range, the units are continuous around the kitchen. The peninsular has no breakfast bar overhang; the worktop at 2740mm by 950mm covers a line of 600mm floor units backed onto 300mm wall cabinets mounted on the floor. Amazing storage space!

Ceramic Undermounted SInk

Caple’s Palladin sink is a firm favourite in the relatively limited undermounted ceramic sink market. The soft white of the hand-made one-and-a-half bowl unit coordinates perfectly with the quartz worktop.

Light, Soft Sheen Quartz

Quartz never has the same high polish as natural stone (granite) for worktops, but the soft sheen and muted reflectivity are perfect in a classic kitchen like this one.
