This kitchen and utility room in Maresfield, East Sussex, was installed by our friends at Kitchen Design Hub, who also shared the costs of this case study.  The large kitchen has an L-shape, housing the sink run at the window, the hob is located in the island and a run of 300mm cabinets on the inside wall covers additional drawer space. The utility room has a single  run, behind the wall at the end of the kitchen.

The utility room has a simple run with undermount sink. As well as providing a home for utilities, the room has massive additional storage space.

At almost 3 metres by 1.3 metres the island uses most of a slab of quartz at 30mm thick. The breakfast bar is at the end and BOTH sides of the island, but at the end away from the hob, minimising any support dangers. With the strength of 30mm quartz, all is secure and should last a lifetime.

The 80cm Neff N90 T58TL6EN2 hob featuring Schott Ceran black ceramic glass top and integral extractor fan. The black hob top contrasts well against the predominantly white island worktop – really smart and practical.

The Franke Mythos MYX110-55 sink is a solid option for anyone wanting a good quality stainless steel single bowl undermounted sink.

The tap is a Quooker – the market-leading boiling water tap. There are many different Quookers available, with filtered, chilled and even carbonated water options as well as truly boiling.

The trademark knurled knob with its safety lock feels positive and solid and speaks of quality.

Worktop return off the sink run under wall units – preparation and storage space

Two 300mm deep 900mm long wall-mounted drawer cabinets with a 330mm worktop and upstand. This side of the room provides significant extra storage space and a useful shelf with that quartz worktop.

The economical and popular Caple Mode 45 sink in the utility room. The tap is a dual lever chrome effort, with SMR stamped on the base, but I can’t make out which company it is from!

Classic Quartz Misterio is a stone we have bought-in a number of times for customers’ kitchen worktop installations. We have never actually stocked it, so all installations have been on a  bespoke basis. Misterio quartz worktops are white with very subtle veining for an understated marble look. Although not in stock, the actual wholesale price is fairly reasonable, so the extra-cost of buying it in especially is not generally crippling.
