It may be a drum we have had to bang before, but kitchens love marble worktops…Â and kitchens love worktops that look like marble – which means quartz worktops!
Marble looks amazing and gives both a very classy and retro feel to any kitchen. It has drawbacks, though. It can be easily stained, scratched and attacked by household acids. That is where marble lookalikes come in, and the most realistic ones are often quartz worktops. We have written about the differences many times – take a look here, for instance.
We have some new marble and marble-look quartz worktop materials in our showroom display – and some similar new materials in the warehouse. Take a look!Â

Every so often we change parts of our showroom worktop display…
…and we have done it again. Out with Dekton Halo and Radianz quartz worktops – and in with a natural marble and another Radianz quartz worktop!
Verde Olomont Marble is also known as Verde Alpi. Very dark, rich green, it makes a huge change after years with bright white Dekton Halo. A great stone for those happy to embrace the challenges that natural marble brings. Â
We bought this Verde Olomont from our friends at Cullifords of Kingston.
Radianz Calacatta Alya is a Korean product which is imported into the UK by Cullifords of Kingston, like the Lucerne Lake which it replaces.
Calacatta Alya has a stronger vein and more colour than Lucerne Lake. That change fits with the generally stronger colourways which are on trend and which we are reflecting in our showroom revamp.
Nick Geard Fine Furniture (our neighbours here on John Lory Farm) helped with a facelift on our units. Farrow & Ball Studio Green and Skimming Stone paints gave us just the organic colour vibe we wanted.Â
Quartz Worktops - Marble Worktops - In our Warehouse
Just today I was asked to photograph some slabs in the workshop. Two are marble-look quartz, and one is the real thing. All grist to the mill for our customers as they choose their kitchen worktops!Â
BQS Taj Mahal quartz worktops are now available in a Velluto (non-polished) finish. This is a genuinely lovely material: please ask for more images if you are interested.
Verde Italia granite is another lovely stone we can buy from Cullifords. It is yet another striking green material.
Palermo quartz worktops from CRL. A great “bold vein” marble-look quartz for those with the nerve (and the island/peninsula) for it! Palermo makes an interesting alternative to Horizonstone’s superb Calacatta Bronzite.
