On the equivalent Thursday last year, I wrote about the impact of election uncertainty on quartz worktop prices, and the probability of price rises. In that blog I promised that we would hold current prices for all initial quotes based on kitchen plans received before the end of the year – midnight on 31st Dec.
I didn’t imagine on that Thursday that a year later I would be writing almost exactly the same thing. I didn’t imagine that we would be just three weeks from the final Brexit transition and still not know whether or not there was going to be a deal with the EU. Most of all, I didn’t imagine that the intervening period would be dominated by a global pandemic which has affected all our lives so much, and specifically wreaked havoc in manufacturing industry and supply chains right across the globe.
One thing we know for 2020
Once again, one bit of certainty as we head into 2021 is that solid stone prices are set to rise. We know this in part because we already have the initial New Year price lists from many of the big quartz manufacturers. But what possible further confusion and sharper price increases may follow from supply chain mayhem and possible post-Brexit trade tariffs we just don’t know.
Quartz price rises: An action plan
Affordable Granite will not be raising it’s quartz or granite worktop prices on 1st January. We don’t know which materials will have to move or exactly when. All we can say is that if you are looking at new worktops in early 2020, it really is worth your while to get your enquiry and order in as soon as you can, before price rises kick in
But here’s the deal – we will honour 2020 prices on ALL enquiries for ANY material that we receive before midnight on December 31st, even if it takes us a fortnight to quote them all!
