QUARTZ WORKTOPS: PRICE RISES IN THE NEW YEAR

Buying quartz worktops? The final weeks of 2019 might seem a strange time to get involved in making big spending decisions. With the General Election occurring as I write, it is anyone’s guess who will be in Number 10 by the weekend. Christmas is almost on us and who knows what uncertainty lurks just around the corner. Perhaps the last thing you are thinking about is a new kitchen or change of worktops.

One thing we know for 2020

We have one bit of certainty as we head into 2020 – a clear vision of the future, if you like! Quartz prices are set to rise. Three major quartz suppliers have already announced price rises for the New Year, and in our experience, where the big boys go, other manufacturers will be sure to follow.

Obviously, prices for a manufactured commodity do tend to rise over time. But quartz has been affected by a number of specific pressures too. Not least the US-China trade war seems to have created some chaos in the market. Much of the quarried raw material and many manufacturing plants are in China. For reasons not fully understood by me, the price impact of the Sino-American tension has not only affected the USA but the rest of the world too. Check out the Business Matters article here.

Silestone Eternal Calacatta Gold – already an elite price, and about to go higher still

CRL – a lesser known but still major name in the UK quartz market – has announced plans for a price rise in January.

Quartz price rises: The Silver Lining

We have one bit of good news – for the whole of next year we will be offering ten of our favourite Caesarstone materials at one price band down from usual. That represents a very decent saving in itself – BUT the price will be calculated using 2019 prices not 2020! If that isn’t a decent offer I don’t know what is.

Quartz price rises: An action plan

Affordable Granite will not be raising it’s quartz prices across the board on 1st January. We don’t know which materials will have to move when, but all we can say is that if you are looking at new worktops in early 2020, it really is worth your while to get your enquiry and order in before the end of the year if you can.

But here’s the deal – We will honour 2019 prices on ALL enquiries for ANY material that we receive before midnight on December 31st, even if it takes us a fortnight to quote them all!
