Hello! Granite! is the new monthly subscription granite worktops service from Affordable Granite. In a recent brainstorming session in our marketing department at Affordable Granite, several of us simultaneously came up with the same insight at the same time. We suddenly realised that no one – NO ONE! – was offering granite and quartz worktops on a monthly subscription basis. In a world where everything is brought to your door, from coffee to gin, from flowers to underpants, from shirts to shaving equipment, we were amazed that kitchen worktops were completely under-served.

Some of us at AG actually spend time with other people, and we got the impression that many of our friends were looking for something a bit different in their kitchens. Was this hunch right, though? Did people really want a subscription worktop service?

We were shocked to find that no one was offering subscription granite worktops

We spoke to Chesney and Stilton. Something was missing in their relationship, but they couldn’t pin it down. Just a few questions and they realised that boredom with having the same worktops, month after month, was the undefinable je ne sais quoi that they couldn’t describe.

We caught up with Sven during a slack afternoon at the Lido. Swedish-born, but a long-term North London resident, he bemoaned the lack of design flair and variety in the English kitchen scene. We pointed out that in Sweden, Lack is a cheap coffee table, but we took his point.

James and Michelle are proud to have a hard-working kitchen. They are the kind of couple who like to grin while putting pieces of apple onto strips of raw beef. They volunteered with no prompting that they longed for new kitchen worktops every month.

Brooklyn and Anna love to travel. Lockdown has been hard, but now they are on the move again. Internet natives, they can work and play anywhere, enjoying different cultures and food as they go. And when they get back to their own kitchen, they don’t want it to be to the “same old, same old”. Another tick for Hello! Granite!

Janice and Paul have been together for over ten years. They recently found their domestic life revolutionised by a “His and Hers” Underwear subscription. “We are open to anything – especially in the kitchen!” they told our researcher.

Claude and Mika are already huge fans of their random monthly coffee packages, which Claude uses to dye his beard. They expressed positive interest in a worktop subscription, but had questions about the hit on their budget in these difficult days.

Our market research told us that the demand was there

The big questions, of course, were “Can we do this?” and “How do the financials work?”. Andy used up the back of three whole envelopes on the second of those, and we just took the first one for granted. We knew the demand was there, and were confident that we could rise to the challenge.

That allows installations to be done more cost-effectively than any granite worktop installations before. We intend to pass on the full benefit of that on to you, the customer! Gone are the days when you would buy granite worktops, expecting them to last for many years. In the workshop, reactions have been positive. As Spencer put it, “Replacing all the worktops we fit after only a month seems to guarantee steady work for a long time to come.”

Members of the fitting team who had questions or concerns about Hello! Granite! were able to do some counselling with Dave.

Cassie, in the Sales Team, knows that Hello! Granite! is going to be a challenge. As she put it in a meeting: “It’s going to be a challenge.” You can bet your bottom dollar that she is well up to taking that challenge on!

The entire office team feels that this is a make or break moment. But then “the workshop has those every day!”, quipped Annabel.

Although Hello! Granite! only goes fully live this Friday, the office team as a whole has already been getting up to speed with the new software we need to handle monthly subscriptions.
