Tunbridge Wells, Kent, is about one hour’s drive from our granite and quartz worktops factory here in Charlwood, Surrey. Two of of our sales team have a brother living in Southborough, on the edge of Tunbridge Wells, so we are more than a little familiar with the journey. We know it is easy for Tunbrtidge Wells people to visit our showroom, and it is easy for us to install in the town. There is no surcharge for extra distant worktop installations in this part of Kent. Tunbridge Wells really is prime quartz worktop country and you will often see our worktop fitters’ vans in the town.

Tunbridge Wells and the surrounding villages of Southborough, Langton Green, and Pembury are known for their high quality of life. These areas offer a blend of beautiful countryside, green spaces and a relaxed atmosphere. Close enough to London to make a shopping trip or theatre very doable (or a daily commute, for that matter!) and yet enough far enough out to really feel like “country living”, in the garden of England.

Tunbridge Wells is distinguised from its neighbour Tonbridge by the word “Wells”, the word “Royal” and the spelling. Tunbridge and Tonbridge are NOT different in pronunciation, despite the misguided thinking of some Surrey peasants and even the occasional “Misguided of Maidstone”. But basically Kent people know they are said the same and will be quick to correct you if you get it wrong. Ton and Tun rhyme with Sun. Ok?! 😉
Those who are old enough to remember cheque books will be amused by a story a friend of mine told me when he worked with Lloyds Bank. Each branch of the bank had huge batches of cheque books printed, which were then personalised with the details of the individual customer. Lloyds Bank Pantiles Branch in Tunbridge Wells had to pulp over 2000 books after it was found that the L had been left out of Pantiles. 🙂

The Opera House Pub, Tunbridge Wells
In The Opera House, Tunbridge Wells boasts one of the UK’s most impressive pubs. It is run by Wetherspoon, but I guess that is a price you pay to save such a grande building from demolition or bingo! The venue still hosts the occasional opera, but is basically just a very awe inspiring pub.

The area tends to be relatively conservative in taste, but fairly affluent in budget, so that we find ourselves installing kitchen worktops in some very exciting stones.
