ENGINEERED STONE & QUARTZ WORKTOP PRICES

Quartz Worktop Prices

Quartz Worktop Prices can be confusing.  Since Affordable Granite was first established in 2003, changes in stone worktop trends and the advances in modern technology have meant that the choice of materials and market for quartz worktops has grown dramatically.

The wide range of Quartz Brands and colour options means that there is a huge range of quartz worktop prices which can be quite daunting and confusing for the customer. Affordable Granite work really hard to guide customers through this minefield with straight-talking honest and impartial advice.

Why such disparity between colours and brands in pricing?

Basic colours with fewer pigments and smaller patterns are generally more affordable because they are easier to produce. A cheaper overall price does not necessarily mean an inferior product. This is not to say that all Quartz worktops and Engineered stones are equal. Differences in composition (quantities of different minerals etc) and types of resin vary even within a brand. Brand quartz worktop prices vary as some companies producing engineered stone and mineral surfaces like Silestone and Caesarstone, lead the way in research and development and are likely to be using more pigments to produce their engineered slabs.

Why can’t I have a price per square metre?

Customers often ask us for a quartz worktop price per square metre and don’t always understand when we inform them that we don’t price worktops that way. The reason for this is that, when it is not a material that Affordable Granite holds in stock, we are looking at how many slabs we are going to use.  In general, the consistency of engineered stone and quartz worktops means less wastage in manufacture as there are not any natural features or seams in the stone to avoid. With the use of marble-look quartz worktops and large-veined stones, however, the slab usage becomes more problematic. Working out the vein flow in a kitchen which is U-shaped can be quite a task, particularly if there are few areas of plain space or consistent pattern on the stone. Our team here at Affordable Granite work really hard to get the best pattern flow possible for vein-matching but this is not always possible into every corner or on every plane when there are mitred waterfall ends or full-height splash-backs.

Other factors that influence quartz worktop prices are all the other elements that go into the manufacture and installation of your project. The percentage of labour costs varies enormously from project to project. There are sometimes additional charges for difficult access or distance from our workshop and showroom at Charlwood. Templating and installation costs are similar regardless really of the size of the kitchen so it doesn’t necessarily follow that a small kitchen worktop price will be much cheaper than a large kitchen worktop price. A small kitchen may well have exactly the same number of cut outs, drainer grooves etc as a large kitchen and sometimes in a small space, more up-stand is required to go around piers and alcoves etc.

Affordable Granite’s commitment to offering Affordable Quartz Kitchen Worktop Prices.

Although Improvements in technology, competition in the market and Affordable Granite’s investment in tooling have all helped to reduce costs, the sheer range of choice of materials has meant that buying power is spread across multiple materials and brands. Having said that, Affordable Granite, in its commitment to offering affordable quartz worktop prices, buys a select range of colours in bulk quantities to try and keep the costs down. The advantage of having our own stock range, is not only that we can offer better quartz prices, but we don’t’ have to consider slab usage in quite the same way and we can price based on the lengths that we actually need. Stock quartz also means that we have the materials available for immediate manufacture.
