Andrew King
This is my brother. He has worked in granite worktop sales at Affordable Granite for almost 10 years now. It was in April 2009 that he was needing a job after returning from Brazil, and in a moment of total foolishness I suggested he should come here. I just don’t know what came over me, but there I was. Lumbered. I have been trying to find a way to get rid of him ever since, but nothing has worked, yet.
Andrew likes a walk. He has known me since before I could walk because he is vastly older than me. Ever since I have known him he has been capable of moving around on two legs and he actually enjoys it.

Photography is a big part of Andrew’s passion for winter mountaineering. When not playing around in granite worktop sales, he would rather be up a snowy hill with a camera.

Andrew is not only into walking up hills. With his wife Sarah, he likes walking the London tubes. He tells me that this doesn’t mean exploring the tunnels, dodging trains. They walk at the surface, connecting up tube stations and so discovering bits of London that you might not come across other wise.
He takes his cameras on these expeditions too.

It’s about time Andrew did something useful by walking. This weekend he is taking part in the Banham Marsden March to raise money for the Royal Marsden Hospital. This annual event raises a huge amount of money to help support this vital centre for cancer research, diagnosis and treatment.
The Marsden March is a 15 mile walk along the roads connecting the Royal Marsden Hospital’s two sites – in Fulham and Sutton. There are few mountains on the route, but 15 miles is a fair distance, and in their way, roads and pavements can take it out of you more than rock and snow. And the best view will probably be the finish line in Sutton!

which is among the very best in the world. We feel we are really privileged to have this kind of resource on our doorstep, and want to do all we can to support it.
The Royal Marsden Hospital is close to our hearts as a firm and as a family. Most of us at AG have had relatives who have been cared for at the Marsden. And three out of the six of us in our immediate family have had major treatment here.
Our sister Liz actually worked at the Royal Marsden in radiotherapy until quite recently. She and Dad are both currently under the care of the hospital, and Mum has had surgery and ongoing therapy several times over the years.
Andrew is going to be joined by sister in law Rachel (also currently under the care of the Marsden) and her husband Nigel. Together, these three Marsden March novices will be walking with the Caterham Convoy – a seasoned team which has included Dad in the past and brings together several other friends whose lives have been touched by cancer – and the Royal Marsden. Liz should be with us for the last 5 miles.
