Labrador Antique Granite Worktops in Horley, Surrey

As Horley is the nearest town to us here in Charlwood, it is not surprising that we often fit worktops there. Mr and Mrs C have a compact, galley kitchen and wanted a really special worktop to complement their cream units. They selected Labrador Antique, which we bought from regular supplier Stoneworld of Wembley. I followed the stone through the manufacturing process – hence some of the workshop and fitting images in our slideshow – and then visited the home to take pictures of the finished kitchen.

Our customers were delighted with the stone, and were kind enough to send their testimonial:

“We’d just like to say how thrilled we are with the Labrador Antique worktop you fitted, the different flecks of colour in it are amazing in any light; it’s perfect and really was a prize find!! We will highly recommend you to anyone we know in the future looking to have kitchen worktops. Many thanks again!”

THE FINER DETAILS

A classic galley Kitchen

Benchmarx units flank the NEFF hob and oven. We milled the granite down from 30mm to 20mm so as to manufacture the full-height splash-back, sweeping up to the extractor fan.

Sink and hob run

The sink and hob are both on the same side of the kitchen. This has the advantage of leaving the whole run on the opposite side clear for food preparation.

Labrador Antique - brown stone...

Labrador Antique features blue or green crystals in a brown background. Standing further back and seeing the stone from an angle, the blue flashes are less visible, the stone blending into one pleasant chestnut tone. The kitchen features an Opus sink and an Iflow tap.

... with stunning blue flashing!

A close up of the sink cut-out and drainage grooves shows the superb patterning in this block of Labrador Antique. Some slabs of this type have fewer, larger blue/green crystals. This installation featured many more, smaller flashes of a fairly uniform blue. Quite stunning!

Wall-mounted microwave

Given limited overall space, the kitchen has been designed to minimize any clutter on the worktops, the CDA built-in microwave being housed in the wall units opposite the oven.

Detail of curved corner

Detail of large radius (300mm+) curve on the curved corner unit at the end of the worktop. The standard chamfer edge profile is clearly visible.
