Visiting our Kitchen Customers
At Affordable Granite, not many days go by without a visit from a supplier’s rep. It is far less often that we leave the comfort of our office and showroom and visit one of OUR regular customers. But it is very valuable when we do. Our very specific product – the worktop – has to fit into the totality of a kitchen and it really does us good once in a while to talk and think all things Kitchen with a more general expert. And of course, it gives us a chance to talk about our worktops…
Kitchen Design Hub
Over the last couple of years we have done an ever-increasing amount of work for Martin at Kitchen Design Hub, in Uckfield. We fitted all of his showroom worktops, and that has led us into a strong partnership. This week we wanted to go over and chat about some of our stock changes. (When we change stock, we need to bring our regular kitchen company customers up to speed pretty fast, or we can end up selling discontinued materials!)
Cassie went as our rep, and I took her over to Uckfield with my photography hat on. While she and Martin talked business, I got on with photographing the showroom. The result may well be a case study on Classic Quartz Fiji, but before that comes out, here is an overview of one showroom visit.
Kitchen Design Hub in Uckfield High Street
The KDH showroom features a full U-shaped kitchen, with gas hob, Butler sink and breakfast bar peninsula in a modern in-frame Shaker, topped with our Classic Quartz Fiji 20mm worktops
A big island with contemporary, slab door units features an undermount sink and an nduction hob. Worktop Classic Quartz Alaska Bianca
Similar modern units form two runs and an oven tower on the opposite wall. Caesarstone Turbine Grey is the worktop
I really like the way that Martin has put this shop together. Some showrooms are very bitty, with different units and a hodge podge of worktops creating a claustrophobic sense of clutter. I like kitchen companies that hold their nerve and show off a whole, real kitchen. The Shaker U-shape with the Fiji is exactly that – and I will use it as a case study in the next few weeks.
What is striking about Kitchen Design Hub Uckfield is that the central island could go with either of the ends of the room. The modern units hold it together with the long straight run and tower, and Alaska Bianca wouldn’t look daft on an island with Turbine Grey worktops. But then… it doesn’t look daft near the Fiji either. This showroom tells a potential customer what it would be like to actually live with these specific kitchens rather than dazzling us with variety – we were impressed.
Kitchen Design Hub - a few of the highlights
I will be revisiting this showroom in the forthcoming case study, but wanted to just put a few of the highlights out there.
The two Caesarstone Turbine Grey runs feature brick on the back wall – that is more showrom than working kitchen I must admit, but it looks great
Induction hob on the central island
The hob has an integral extractor – and a very neat one that loses little hob space.
With very long islands, where the stone doesn’t come out of one slab, waterfall ends can only have an approximate vein match. But it needs to be good enough just to fool/please the eye!
See article on vein matching.Â
Classic Quartz Alaska Bianca – Champagne look at Prosecco price?! 😉

Kitchen Design Hub and Affordable Granite
East Sussex is very much on our patch so far as granite and quartz worktop instalations are concerned. We are so glad to have a great relationship with a number of kitchen companies that serve the area – HKS and Sussex Kitchens spring to mind straight away, and there are others. We are proud to work with solid kitchen companies who themselves have their finger on the pulse of what looks good and what works in the home. Martin and Kitchen Design Hub are right up there.
This visit gave rise to a case study on Fiji quartz.
