Kitchens at The Milan Design Show 2023
So it’s a three parter! Naomi finished her blog series on this years Salone del Mobile in Milan with some thoughts on the kitchen trends that she and Cassie saw at the show.
Kitchens at the Milan Show 2023
One of the main reasons for going to the Salone de Mobile show is to see trends coming in for kitchens. I have mentioned some of the general trends coming in for interiors but in this blog we look more closely at kitchens themselves.
Kitchens at the Milan Show 2023: Ribbed & fluted
The ribbed look finds its way into kitchen furniture, doors and tall pilasters but this year we  even saw this look making its way into the stone finishes themselves, with stone fabricators creating ribbed look waterfall ends and end panels that look tongue and grooved themselves.
Kitchens at the Milan Show 2023: Marble & Marble-Look
Marble and marble-look quartz, glass and ceramics are still very apparent at the Design Show, but with larger patterns and warmer tones than we have seen on display on our previous trips.
Kitchens at the Milan Show 2023: Variations on thickness
When it comes to worktop thickness, we saw everything, from ultra-thin profile to mitred extra-thick false fronts. We especially liked the look of this flat-fronted sharknose profile.
Kitchens at the Milan Show 2023: Sinks
Kitchen trends in sinks: As well as mitred front profiles, we also saw a lot of mitred sinks and sinks made from marble with an overhang into the bowl. Recessed drainers were also popular, with many made using strips of stone around the whole of the worktop rather than routing out the surface of the stone and repolishing. A great example can be seen here in the Quartzforms Sughero quartz from their Forest range
Kitchens at the Milan Show 2023: Splashbacks
Full height splash-backs in matching material remain popular. This is in accord with what we have been seeing in our own quartz worktop installations over the last few years.

Kitchens at the Milan Show 2023: Mixed materials - display shelves
One kitchen feature growing in popularity in ultra-modern kitchens as well as more classic style and traditional kitchens is the open display shelf. Here you can see these kitchen trends shown in an unusual style of wood and glass.
All in all, the Milan show and kitchen trends we saw really impressed us. Kitchens have become an area of the home in which we can express our own personal taste and flair for design, whether it be more traditional or contemporary in style.
