KEEPING THE GRANITE WORKTOPS BOAT AFLOAT

Keeping the Granite Worktops Boat Afloat

Stress stress stress…

We have all felt it in the work place. Too much on. Not quite enough people in. Holiday time. Unexpected and seemingly continuous phone calls.

It seems to have been that busy at Affordable Granite for weeks. This has been a huge year for quartz and granite worktops. And it has been right in the middle of that busyness that we have hit some real challenges.

In the office, we have seen IT problems. All of a sudden, the search facility on our emails went down. When you send and receive as many as we do, that is a severe handicap, believe me. Upgrading Windows on all of our machines and updating other software is time consuming, even with a professional IT firm helping us out, and it is rare to get things done without some glitches and queries.

Meanwhile, over in the workshop, we have had a saw down due to a part breaking that seems to have taken an age to replace. It needs to come from Italy, but apparently has to come on horseback or something.  This has caused considerable stress and has meant shifting some our working practices so as to get the granite worktops out on time. The whole team, office and workshop, has had to really pull together hard.

One of our saws, not doing what a saw is suppose to do. It is NOT a repository for sinks!

And that, we have done. By putting in the hours, by staggering shifts around that single big saw, by finding work arounds in the office, we have more or less kept up with the quotations and with the manufacturing output of granite worktops. If you have experienced any delay from us, we can only apologise – we are doing our absolute best to keep up with enquiries and with demand for our product. And the problems ARE being resolved. Rapidly now!

And, having said all of that, the problems are good ones. Summers could occasionally be lean times, back in the days when we were half the size or less. Now the demand is outstripping our capacity to make, we are employing new staff, strengthening every part of our team, and seeking to give better, faster, more consistent customer service than ever. If we are asking you to bear with us through a tough patch, it is because we see good days ahead, with the Affordable Granite flag flying high.
