QUARTZ KITCHEN WORKTOPS: AUTUMN TRENDS 2018 PART 2

Granite and Quartz Kitchen Worktops and Trends this Autumn

Two weeks of trends? I’m afraid so! There was just too much to say last week, so we have run into two weeks. If you want to read last week’s blog first, with its more general comments, it is right here.

Once again our blog and mood boards have been based around the loan of kitchen doors from our incredibly helpful Oxted Kitchen Designer friends Lewis Charles. Their doors and our quartz worktops have formed the basis for everything you see here.

This moodboard reflects the current trend for keeping the kitchen as a fairly blank canvas. The neutral, gentle marbling of the Radianz Lucern Lake quartz works well with the mid-grey tone of the Magma Grey slab door. The natural wood effect of the Karndean flooring adds some warmth to the scheme. A pop of colour can then be added in the accessories: here Cassie has chosen some beautiful blue glass options, which complement the latte stripe of the wall paper and curtain material.
These marble-look quartz worktops are still incredibly popular and at Affordable Granite we have every possible option – most of our customers think that there is too much choice! From the subtlest, like Blanco Massa BQS (sample shown in our next mood board) through to the mottled Lucern Lake Radianz and more delicate marbling of Bianco Carrara by Novaestone. And those are just the stock quartz worktop colours – with bespoke materials there is almost unlimited choice. Check out the heavier mottled patterns of Lyra from Silestone and White Attica Caesarstone, and many others here.

As previously mentioned in last week’s trends blog, dark kitchen cabinet doors are really popular. This Basalt Black door has a textured finish which is very difficult to photograph. The slight texture looks great with the smooth sleek look of the Makalu Silver Radianz quartz and the subtle Blanco Massa – marble worktop. These dark colour doors look beautiful with bold accent colours as shown with our Emerald Green kitchen hand towel and the beautiful watercolour design typical of  Bluebellgray fabrics.

I think this last mood board is my favourite. I personally love the fluffy teal fabrics and dried flowers against the industrial sleekness of the Black Basalt slab door from Lewis Charles. A bit of fun can be injected with some of the fabrics that are around at the moment. There are just so many beautiful animal and bird prints to choose from! We went for this bold Umbrella print from Charlwood Interiors, and I hope you agree that it looks great.
We couldn’t put together a mood-board this season without including a worktop with a more dynamic vein, and this stunning new quartz from Unistone really fits the bill. Well done Unistone! Your Diamante really ticks all the boxes with it’s trailing veins, very delicate sparkle and stone-coloured background. I think that it will be easy to live with as well as looking good.
Larger veins like the Diamante are increasingly popular. Other popular options include the Carrara Misterio by Unistone. This stone has a more meandering trailing vein which has proved very popular. For a straighter thin vein, we have been extremely pleased with Alaska Bianca by Classic Quartz – see the photo below. The Carrara Venatino from Unistone also fits the same kind of look.
For chunkier ‘lightning stripe’ type veining, we still love the Calacatta Lusso from Classic Quartz in a warmer tone, and Statuario Venato, in a greyer tone. For a big statement the range of different Brittanicca quartz from Cambria has a colour to suit every kitchen – see our blog from February!

Our fitters are rightly proud of their work in aligning the veining of these lovely Alaska Bianca quartz worktops from Classic Quartz
