Ben, Affordable Granite Workshop and Warehouse Manager

At Affordable Granite we seem to be offering more mitred downstands and specially built-up edges than ever before. Labour-intensive and therefore not cheap, the results can be spectacular. Here is Ben, our workshop manager, showing off the dust in his hair after taking his mask off.

The beauty of a mitred installation – 20mm Cambria Brittanicca quartz built up to 60mm thickness.

We don’t often get involved with cutting and installing genuine marble, and we certainly don’t stock it. However, just occasionally, a customer who is buying granite or quartz wants to have a contrast or feature area in real marble. In this case a customer buying lovely bespoke white veined granite worktops asked for this stunning Ashburton Marble as the splashback. We were happy to oblige!

Silestone Eros Stellar – for the bold!

It isn’t every week Affordable Granite fabricates quartz worktops using red sparkly materials. Some manufacturers have actually dropped their reds, but not Silestone. Their Eros Stellar was always one of the best of the reds – rich and bold, it suits black or white units and is sometimes used as a feature island with the other worktops in monochrome options. For more about Silestone see here.

Every so often we see a material for the first time – and this is one of those. Not only new to us, but new to the UK, Oakmoor really caught my eye as I popped into the warehouse with my camera. A soft brown equivalent of Cambria’s very successful black, white and grey sparkly Roxwell quartz, I can see Oakmoor quartz worktops setting off a lot of kitchens in today’s earthy and gentle tones.

Cambria Summerhill and Cambria Berwyn

These two from Cambria were among the first products that we fabricated from the big American quartz worktop company. Both materials have that “natural, but more so” look that Cambria do so well. Both products fit well into the soft tones and strong grey elements that are popular at the moment. And both have a subtle sparkle that draws the eye without being blingy. We like them, and a significant number of customers do too.
