COSENTINO HOOK OPEN EVENING: SILESTONE & DEKTON

Cosentino Hook Open Evening: Silestone & Dekton

Yesterday evening the AG sales team spent a happy two or three hours visiting the Cosentino UK HQ at Hook. One of the country’s biggest suppliers of quartz, there is much more to Cosentino than Silestone.

For us, it was a good time to just hang out, socialise and laugh a bit. The Covid and Brexit period has been a stressful one, and our level of busyness has come at the price of a lot of very hard work from the team. Ever since Claire H-B came on the scene as our regional Cosentino rep, we feel we have had a better relationship with the Spanish giant, and being keen to go together to this open evening was evidence of that.

Cosentino know the value of great hospitality. Prosecco or champagne on arrival – a superbly stocked gin bar – lovely nibbles with a great set of vegan options – they don’t get this sort of thing wrong. For me, forget the vegan stuff: I still talk about the local ham and hard Almerian cheeses and gutsy red wines on my visit to the main factory a few years ago.

From a business point of view, though, we all know it works – to a point. Good (free) food and drink are a great way to please your customers. But that will slip thriough your fingers if actual customer service and support doesn’t follow through. The reason we were happy to be wined and dined a bit is that things have moved forward with Silestone – not just because of Claire as our rep, but Olly and (these days) Lucy at Hook, really looking after us.

But I don’t want this blog to major on the fun we had. Cosentino really are at the forefront of slab material production globally. In Silestone they have the quartz brand that is probably most recognised and respected by the general public, across Europe at any rate. They are at the forefront of innovation, both in looks and in the environmental, safety and useability aspects of the product. In Dekton they have leading a  brand of sintered-particle/ceramic-type material with constant innovations which impress with their beauty. And in their Sensa and Prexury ranges they have sleected some of the world’s most beautiful natural stones and made them practical for real-world use with state-of-the-art sealing technologies.

Rather than writing a detailed or technical blog about all the things we saw, I wanted to just give an impression of the lovely materials we saw.
