IT’S THAT NEW GRANITE WORKTOP VAN TIME OF YEAR

Our New Granite Worktop Van

Our granite worktop vans take a hammering. As we have written before, we do a massive mileage, carrying very heavy products. A 2.5 metre worktop in plain Zimbabwe Black granite weighs nearly 340lbs and a big island can be twice that or more. Load a van up with two or three tops and an island, and you have a BIG payload. It is hardly surprising that granite worktop companies get through vehicles relatively fast.

Our new granite worktop van is a Boxer 335 L3 Diesel 2.0 BLUEHDI H2 Professional – Peugeot’s current take on the classic Transit type van. We buy all our vans in silver, and then have them wrapped in vinyl with our livery.

To be honest, we have not in a while had exactly the same livery twice, although we have a “look” which is definitely carried forward from van to van. We want the vehicles to scream “granite worktop van”. With that in mind, we have used more and more of the van’s surface for images of kitchen’s we’ve fitted. We all feel that this van is the best yet in terms of carrying our product – and our brand – out onto the road.

On our early vans, we printed images of kitchens at up to 1.4 metres wide. On this latest vehicle, we have an image each side at 3m length – granite worktops on one side, and a big vein marble look quartz on the other. Images at that size have to be of real quality, taken with high resolution cameras using excellent lenses. You can see the impact from our pictures on here. All the images on the vans come from Andrew King Photography.

A close look at the nearside image shows that we have flipped it end for end – who will notice?!

The empty space at right needed something – the kitchen was in Hampshire, but the dog was Photoshopped from Surrey 😉

What you do with the images is also critical. Although the process involves consultation with us at AG and with the van wrap people, the basic design work is down to Debra at WOWWOO, who is also responsible for the general setting up and look of our website, onsite signage, all our logos, colour schemes and other design needs. We love the look!

Finally, once approved, the designs go forward to a van wrapping company. We used Totally Dynamic South London Centre. Owner Scott Coleman truly went the extra mile in terms of final tweaks to the design, which always looks different once on the actual 3-dimensional shape of the granite worktop van. The finish is excellent, and we are really happy with results.

The front – Scott helped us with this, redesigning with the Peugeot badge removed from the bonnet and giving us the clearest AG logo on the front that we have had in a while.

The new van is about to get its interior fully kitted out with the granite worktop racking and places for tools and equipment. Once that is done (over this weekend) it will become the regular van for Seb and Grant, our #1 fitting team. Look out for them in your neighbourhood, as they stop by to fit another set of Affordable Granite worktops!
