Quartz Worktops - Kingswood, Surrey
This Surrey kitchen was an exciting multiway collaboration with Strawhill Kitchens, Silestone, Unistone and Ollie and Caitlin Palmer. Ollie and Caitlin are known to the public via Welcome to Wrexham, the  Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney football show.
The kitchen units were hand-made in Ireland, where Strawhill have their factory. Ollie and Caitlin visited us more than once at the Affordable Granite showroom to talk all things worktop. in the end they chose Ethereal Glow by Silestone for most of their worktops, with contrasting Unistone Taj Mahal for their island. Both stones have a warm/gold element, with the Unistone being gold right through and the Silestone having gold traces in the vejning,

Quartz worktops in Kingswood, Surrey - The Raw Materials
Silestone Ethereal Glow is one of Cosentino’s premium worktop stones, with a price ticket towards the top of their range. The Ethereal range is a “blockier” alternative to their popular Eternal range of marble-look quartzes.
Unistone Taj Mahal is from our range of in-stock quartz materials. It is a copy of an extremely expensive natural quartzite of the same name. The resemblance isn’t bad, but for us, the Taj Mahal Quartz is just a winner because it offers a great look which suits some kitchens very well, a particularly pleasing and cleanable surface and great value for money.
Quartz worktops in Kingswood, Surrey - The Kitchen
A large room in an L-shape, the kitchen is at the angle of the L, making it the central area of the ground floor of Ollie and Caitlin’s lovely Kingswood home. A small but well designed and practical utility room opens off the kitchen on the inside of the house – no external wall. The kitchen cabinets and Silestone Ethereal Glow worktops are continued at the far end of the dining area, which helps to hold the room together with a unifying theme. In-frame doors and a generally excellent quality of craftsmanship, with a classic sense of style makes this a great kitchen, and we are proud to have supplied stone worktops for the Palmers.

Unified Design
The L-Shaped room features kitchen units and quartz worktop right across the back of the house – from the hob run on the right to the dresser at far left.

Kitchen Island
The superb Unistone Taj Mahal island is the centrepiece of the room. Forgiving in daily use and with a lovely surface sheen, Taj Mahal is a stock material for us, and surprisingly economical.

It was a special experience to work with a celebrity couple on this project. As a photographer it is also really nice to have a couple who are willing to be photographed in their kitchen. Ollie and Caitlin Palmer have a lovely home and the new kitchen is right at the centre of it. The Silestone Ethereal Glow quartz worktops and the Unistone Taj Mahal island are very much a part of the success and great look of the project – we are proud to have been part of it.
